"De betekenis van Elie Wiesel voor de mensheid"

Op 12 mei organiseert de Commissie Vorming & Toerusting van de PKN-gemeente Wezep-Hattemerbroek een Kerk- en Israëlavond met als onderwerp: De betekenis van Elie Wiesel voor de mensheid. De Bible Belt krant Veluweland heeft echter geen idee wie Elie Wiesel (voor de mensheid) is, en wordt hij als vrouw gepresenteerd, en alsof de krant deze vrouw zelf gesproken heeft:

Zij roept ons op om de oorlog niet te vergeten. 'Als we de slachtoffers vergeten, vermoorden we ze nog een keer.'
De spreker op deze avond, Ds. Sjirk van der Zee, heeft zelf een periode bij Elie Wiesel gestudeerd en zet zich in voor de Joodse wortels van het christelijk geloof.

Dominee Sjirk van der Zee, emeritus predikant PKN en oud-voorzitter van de sectie Kerk & Israël PKN, is belangenbehartiger van Elie Wiesel in Nederland. Hij toert door het land met lezingen over Wiesel en is tevens uitgever van zijn boeken.

Dus wat betekent Elie Wiesel voor de mensheid? Van dominee Van der Zee zult u maar één kant van Elie Wiesel te horen krijgen, namelijk dat hij en soort kruising is tussen Mahatma Ghandi en Martin Luther King, en de moderne belichaming van het joodse Holocaust-slachtoffer dat vrede, mensenrechten en compassie predikt. De andere kant, dat Wiesel o.a. een (Holocaust-)profiteur is, een oplichter, een Holocaust-ontkenner (wanneer het niet-joden betreft), een (Armeense) genocide-ontkenner, en een activistische Palestijnenhater is, zullen we van Van der Zee niet horen. Dat komt omdat Van der Zee waarschijnlijk tot een "mensheid" behoort die het niet hoog opheeft met de werkelijkheid - en zodoende judaïsme niet los kan zien van de moderne "Joodse staat". Bijvoorbeeld de werkelijkheid dat Wiesel na zijn bevrijding uit Buchenwald voor de Irgun ging werken, een organisatie van joodse terroristen, verantwoordelijk voor bomaanslagen en de gewelddadige zuivering van Palestijnen in Israël.

"Elie Wiesel is such a ridiculous character. In private Elie Wiesel is the subject of much ridicule. The expression "There's no business like Shoah-business" is literally coined for him."

Wiesel ’s disgraceful history of dismissing the suffering of some in favor of others is well documented. The late historian Howard Zinn called Wiesel’s refusal to include the suffering of non-Jews at the hands of the Nazis at the Holocaust Museum, along with exhibits documenting Jewish suffering, one of the most “shameful moments” in recent memory. In that episode, Wiesel  described the inclusion of the terrible affliction of non-Jews by the Nazis in the Museum as an attempt to “falsify reality” and that such calls were tantamount to “stealing the Holocaust from us.”

Here were gathered a handful of Nobel Prize laureates who had performed not a single service for humanity.
